Consistent breeze is carrying the teams towards Cabbage Tree Island

23:55 With the nor'easterly breeze still holding the yachts are making good time on their way to Cabbage Tree Island.

So far the race has favoured the smaller of the entrants as the work their way up the coast. The overall leader board has St. Jude sitting in first place, Midnight Rambler in second and Blink in third on IRC.  With the wind forecast to soften in the early hours of the morning these current leaders will be fighting hard to keep their positions as some of the lighter and high performance boats come in to their element.

At the front of the pack the 100 footers are holding their own with well practiced Comanche slightly in front and hoping to held this position as the weather evolves throughout the evening.

At this early stage of the race there has been two yachts which have had to retire due to damage but with all crew safe and heading back to port.

  • Sticky - retired - broken lifeline
  • Yarrandi - retired- steering damage
