Wax Lyrical is a Danish design X 50 cruiser/racer, built for owner Les Goodridge who previously owned and raced the famous timber eight-metre Erica J.  Most of the crew have sailed together for some years, with a small sprinkling of youth.  Wax Lyrical aims to take a Youth Sailing Academy member on their first Hobart each year and encourages women in sailing with girls comprising around half the regular crew. 

A Corinthian team, they finished the 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart in eighth on PHS and the 2018 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race in fifth place, then improving to win PHS in the 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart.  In the 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race Wax Lyrical was 5th in PHS and 3rd in Corinthian PHS.
